Labour Shortages Will Continue

As of January 2023, Canadian national unemployment returned to 5%, down from the pandemic-era high of 13.7% in May 2020.

Foodservice industry employment, however, remains below pre-pandemic levels despite year-over-year growth of 23% in January 2023.*  While it remains difficult to recruit and retain skilled labour, time-saving speed-scratch products have the potential to reduce unpleasant tasks like chopping or slicing for your team.   Many of these products still allow for made-in-house quality and, importantly, free up your staff to spend time where it is most meaningful and rewarding. They can instead focus on creatively adding their own signature finishes to your offerings or give employees the opportunity to interact with the customers. Further, labour-saving products enable faster speed of service, which remains important to consumers whether they are visiting a convenient quick-service establishment or sitting down to enjoy quality time with family and friends.
