MINOR'S® Hand Held Global Street Food Recipe Competition
Our annual Make it with MINOR'S® recipe competition has come to a close, and we are excited to announce this year’s winner, Erin Oleksyn.
Every year, we invite Chefs from the Culinary Federation of Canada to show us their skills and culinary creativity through a recipe competition using our Make it with Minor’s® products.
This year, we challenged the chefs to create a global hand-held recipe using MINOR’S® Fire Roasted Poblano Flavour Concentrate, and we received a variety of creative recipes from chefs all around Canada. In the first round, all qualifying entries were evaluated based on three criteria.
Their creative use of Minor's® Fire Roasted Poblano Flavour Concentrate, their ability to adhere to our theme, and the recipe’s operational efficiency.
From this round, we selected 5 finalists. These chefs were able to present top dishes that demonstrated their creativity and skills. Meet the finalists below:
- Ryan Morton – Poblano Pork Belly Bao Buns
- Mark Jachecki – Fire Roasted Poblano Pita with Pimento Carnitas and Spicy Crema
- Sean Bell – Tequila Shrimp Lettuce Wraps
- Mike Clapoff – Minor's Fire Roasted Poblano Falafel Wrap with Roasted Poblano Remoulade
- Erin Oleksyn – Poblano Meatball Pops
These 5 chefs and their recipes were passed to the second round, where their dishes were judged by flavour.
After deliberate judging, we are happy to announce our 2024 Make it with MINOR'S® Recipe Competition Winner, Erin Oleksyn, from the Culinary Federation of Saskatoon. Erin’s dish, the Poblano Meatball Pops, featured herby poblano, parmesan meatballs coated in a corndog style batter and deep-fried golden brown, with a poblano honey mustard. Their dish was creative, easy to execute, and full of flavour.
As the winner, Erin will be joining us at the 2024 Culinary Federation National Conference, taking place from May 26-30, 2024, in Edmonton, Alberta. There, she will have the opportunity to showcase her winning dish to the culinary federation alongside our team of experts.
Congratulations once again to Erin Oleksyn on this well-deserved achievement, and thank you to all the talented chefs who submitted a recipe this year.
